 AE LIGHT is pleased to announce Xenide model AEX20 has passed initial explosion proof tests and is now certified for safe operation in Class 1 Division 1 Group D, environments, (intrinsically safe). CERTIFICATION IS WITH THE USE OF WATERPROOF BATTERY ONLY.
Class I locations are areas where flammable gases may be present in sufficient quantities to produce explosive or flammable mixtures.
Div 1 - area where explosive or flammable materials usually exist under normal conditions
Group D: Atmospheres containing gasoline, hexane, naptha, benzene, butane, propane, alcohol, acetone, benzol, lacquer solvent vapors, or natural gas.
Additional testing is ongoing for Groups A, B, C, E, F, & G
Group A: Atmospheres containing acetylene.
Group B: Atmospheres containing hydrogen, gases or vapors of equivalent hazard such as manufactured gas.
Group C: Atmospheres containing ethyl-ether vapors, ethylene, or cyclo-propane.
Group E: Atmospheres containing metal dust - including aluminum, magnesium, and their commercial alloys, and other metals of similarly hazardous characteristics.
Group F: Atmospheres containing carbon black, coal or coke dust.
Group G: Atmospheres containing flour, starch, or grain dusts.
Additionally with the new certification, the IP rating for AEX20 and AEX25 has been upgraded to IP68 (with waterproof battery).
IP68: Totally protected against dust and protected against long periods of immersion under pressure.
Due to minor heat considerations, further testing will be conducted on the AEX25 after modifications are completed.
To the best of our knowledge no other HID Searchlight in this category has been able to achieve this rating. We are proud of our achievements and strive to produce only the highest quality, high performance portable lighting possible. |
